Here We Go!

Well, it took some years, but I'm finally here! I'm ready to share more about my musical journey. During this time of corona, it may seem like there is a big pause button on so much of what I do; perform and make music. Yes, there is a HUGE question mark when it comes to live performances and when I can play in the world of musical theatre and classical music again. But something that has kept me going and helped me process the crazy, is songwriting. Yup, I have been writing songs ever since I was a nerdy kid with messy hair, huge glasses and zero fashion sense. As soon as I picked up a clarinet, the songwriting ideas followed and I have kept it up ever since.

Last year, I took my destiny into my own hands and said no to keeping my songwriting on the back burner. I said no to second guessing and just took a chance. Man, am I so glad I did. It is liberating and scary to slowly start sharing that side of me but oh so worth it. I'm excited to write and share more of my songs with you all. I hope the music makes you smile, makes you cry, makes you wanna dance, heck, I don't care, I just hope my music makes you FEEL something and that someone out there can relate to it in some way.

Another scary thing that I'm venturing into is embracing the singer side of me. It took a lot for me to even write that on my homepage. Seriously. But, the braver I get, the more my voice opens up and one of these days, I will have the guts to share a professionally recorded song with me ACTUALLY singing. In the meantime, you get my ghetto Insta videos hehe

I'm just here, taking tiny steps (but steps nonetheless) embracing music as my full time dream and realizing that, hey! My identity is not as a woodwind player, or a songwriter, or a singer, or even a wife and a mom. My identity is ALL of those things. Giving yourself permission to acknowledge all sides of yourself, giving each side some time and being ok with getting a little messy is so important. This blog is one of my personal steps in embracing it.

Cheers to all of you out there, and the little steps you are taking to make things happen! Let's do this!  :)
